ARC GROUND CARE INVEST IN NEW DRAINAGE SOLUTIONS

We are delighted to reveal our two new pieces of specialist sports field drainage equipment.

Koro Top Drain

The Koro Top Drain is a unique multifunctional machine that trenches, removes spoil, injects sand and re-compacts all in one operation. It is designed for sports field drainage and golf course fairways. The Top Drain benefits include: material and labour savings, faster processing times and less surface contamination than conventional methods. The sand grid created by the Top Drain complements your existing drainage system.

Mastenbroek 15/15

The second key piece of our drainage kit is a Mastenbroek 15/15 Sportsfield drainage trencher fitted with GPS guidance, which is purpose built for installing primary drainage into golf course fairways, all types of sports turf and amenity areas. The trencher lays drainage pipe into a precision cut laser graded trench and simultaneously installs the permeable backfill material to a controlled depth. We remove excavated material via a conveyor to produce a clean-cut trench with no contamination of the turf. Operating on low ground pressure sports turf tracks, the trencher causes the minimum of disruption enabling play to resume immediately.

ABOUT DRAINAGE

Drainage is an invisible but integral part of agriculture or sports pitches as a successful drainage system will prevent waterlogging and associated damage. However, it is easy to overlook or underestimate the importance of this.

Properly designed and installed drainage proves to make a substantial difference to yield in farming, with drainage systems being around as long as agriculture itself.

A well-designed land drainage system is essential when constructing a sports pitch. Without a specialist system to remove surface water the pitch can become waterlogged and rapidly unplayable. Surface compaction, a natural side effect of play, causes inefficient water dispersal and can compound the problem. We improve soil structure and sward quality to ensure playing surface durability, with a drainage programme to decompact the soil and eliminate water-logging. An essential part of this programme is deep tine aeration and verti-draining, both of which slice into compacted pitches. This prevents turf damage and potentially the financial impact of missed games.

On-going maintenance is much more straightforward on an efficiently draining pitch.

Land Drainage

ARC Ground Care provide field drainage and pipeline reinstatement. Agricultural drainage is a speciality due to our farming origins. We also offer pipeline installation for construction and utility firms.

Recently, we have been working for a solar panel company installing the cabling to connect field based solar panels to the National Grid.

We have trenchers with laser guidance and are constantly investing in the latest equipment to ensure we maintain our standards. We offer site visits and a design service for any drainage project.

As members of the Land Drainage Contractors Association, we attend their courses to keep up to date on the latest industry developments.

Sports Field Drainage

Pitches built on UK soils require primary land drainage and secondary systems are likely to be a requisite when the playing surface is to be used all year. Playing on waterlogged turf is difficult and will damage the grass. An efficient drainage system maintains grass sward quality, improves soil structure and keeps your playing surface at its best.

We will advise on a suitable solution for your surface, based on the soil type, your pitch requirements and the surrounding environment. We offer repairs to existing drainage systems, provide end of season installations or design and construct a comprehensive drainage solution for a new playing surface.

Our range of drainage plant and machinery and expertise in trenching, pipe installation, verti-draining and lateral drainage means we can tackle any project.

We offer the following drainage services:

Secondary Sports Pitch Drainage

Often primary drainage systems are insufficient to disperse all surface water and we recommend installing secondary surface drainage. We install this over the top of the primary drainage system. Aiding removal of the surface water, carrying it down to the primary drains and away.

An efficient drainage system will enhance the life and quality of your playing surface - providing it is subject to a regular maintenance programme. It is far more cost effective to establish a drainage system than deal with water logging and soil compaction.

Sand Slitting / Banding

The result of these enable rapid dispersal of surface water into the existing drainage network with minimal cost and as little disturbance to the soil as possible. You can use the playing field almost immediately after we complete the procedure.

Gravel Band Drainage

A gravel band drainer performs another form of secondary drainage. The channels link into the primary drainage system enabling efficient water disposal. Where conditions allow, surfaces are playable within hours after installing the gravel bands.

Mole Ploughing

The mole plough is originally an agricultural tool, which is mounted on a tractor and used for cultivating soil. In sports pitches it is used as a method of installing water pipes without trenches. This provides minimum disturbance to the playing surface. Alternatively, it can break up impenetrable soil and aid drainage.
